New movies will come with
multiplayer trivia games
The world's biggest movie producers have found a new way
to benefit from the rapidly growing popularity of trivia
games. They are now adding multiplayer trivia games to the
discs in their new media formats.
Recently, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment (TCFHE)
has launched a new international Blu-ray Disc release
strategy which will include fourteen new releases during
2007.
The new releases include many industry ‘firsts’, but for us,
the most interesting ones are the advanced BD-Java
interactive multi-player challenge and trivia games. The
BD-Live functionality allows Internet-connected users to
enjoy unique, title specific “web-enabled” interactive
features and games and content to download with the ability
to connect and interact with other broadband BD users around
the world.
Most of TCFHE's upcoming titles will be on 50 GB dual-layer
discs with advanced BD-J interactivity. In addition to
better AV quality and a lot of bonus materials, the new
releases will have onboard multiplayer trivia games added.
Multiplayer trivia games are shaping up to be a new way for
movie producers to add entertainment value to their movies.
For example, the upcoming release of THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW
will include a multiplayer trivia game in which users answer
questions related to global warming, thus adding very
important educational value to the release.
The added storage capacity of Blueray and HDTV formats make
it possible to introduce whole new ways to enjoy movies, and
this may be one of the best things about them.
